About Me

If you've arrived at my website, welcome! Let me give you a quick glimpse into my background. I've always had a creative side and a flare for Art & Design with a foundation degree under my belt I explored lots of mixed media art… my fondness for colours and textures shines through in all of my work. After studying Silversmithing at Birmingham’s prestigious School of Jewellery, I landed a job at an auction house, immersing myself in antiquities, history and beauty where I learned about Gemmology & Diamond Grading, giving me the knack to tell if a gem is real.

After years of commuting to Birmingham, I decided to switch things up. I started with a community course in Floristry, and something just clicked. I had always loved nature and flowers, with my Grandparents passionately growing their own flowers, I have vivid memories of my Papa guiding me around his Dahlia beds and my Gran tending their garden. The beauty of flowers, their colours, textures, and scents made me realise I wanted a change in my career.

Following the Floristry course and getting some hands-on experience, backed by the most fabulous teacher trainer I found that I could turn my passion into a reality and start earning some money for myself. After freelancing for florists on weddings and working part time for a florist I decided to expand my small family further welcoming another daughter where unfortunately I gave birth right in the midst of a covid lockdown. After losing my job pretty much straight away at my small florist shop and with my young baby and family to care for I decided I had absolutely zero to lose and formed my small business plan at my kitchen table. The Flower Kitchen was finally born!

While I don't have decades of experience or a ton of projects to show off, I'm driven by a genuine passion for flowers - I especially LOVE working with local flower farms and sourcing locally grown Staffordshire flower where ever possible in my work. I have a strong work ethic, and a hunger for learning new things and delivering a high quality product whether it be wedding, sympathy or a small posy of flowers for a loved one.
